Prebaci na hrvatski

I wrote several books, four of them on my own, two with other authors. Writing a 400-500 page book – as those who tried can attest – can be compared to climbing the mountain: huge work but also an incredibliy rewarding experience once it's finished. Here are the titles, in reverse chronological order.

Quick guide to MP3s
Zameo ih Internet

200 pages + CD, in Croatian – book is part of "quick guide" series published by Bug & Sysprint.

Though, personally I think this book is so complete that it does not fit under "quick guides", rather under "complete guides" cathegory.

Title is spoof on "Gone with the Wind", but translated into English – "Gone with the Internet" – does not make much sense. In Croatian it does :o) "Zameo" is more like "Smothered", so it would be like "Smothered by Internet", as the Croatian title for famous movie is "Smothered by the Wind" (which, again, does not make much sense when translated back into English). This book is collection of my columns that were published in various magazines in the last 5 years, with additional "post facto" commentary for each column.

Book was published by Jesenski & Turk in their Biblioteka 42 series along with some of the greatest philosophical thinkers of our time (not that I want to be associated with those boring guys, but when you say "Manuel Castells" it sounds impressive to some :o))

From the begginner to Windows XP guru

Internet za (for) Windows 95

500-page book, plus CD, in Croatian – there is Croatian phrase that goes like "I was pissing blood while doing this" – meaning, as you have already guessed, it was a DAMN lot of work. Yes it was...

I don't know what more to say about this Monument to Man's Persistence. Take my advice – don't do this at home kids, unless you're a masochist or you're in dire need for money. I was neither, I just wanted to write a book, and couldn't have looked on while somebody else wrote the Croatian Windows XP Bible... it just had to be me.

300 pages + 3 floppy disks, in Croatian. Book was written in Fall 1995., right after publication of Windows 95. Since I was a beta tester for Windows 95, most of the material for the book was written even before the official publication of Windows 95.

The book looked quite "luxurious", as Znak, the publisher, was at the peak of its power at the time... Book received solid critical acclaim, and sold very well... It was even on some bestsellers lists for some time, although you must consider that number of sold copies needed to get on such a list here is ridicolously small...

PC Biblija

PC Biblija 2

Published by SysPrint, at the beginning of 1995. Title actually translates as "PC Bible", and that's what it was... Kind of encyclopaedia of the PC world, covering all sorts of topics – from hardware, to software and "trends" in PC world at the time... Most of the book (hardware part in whole) was written by Robert Šipek – I wrote tiny 24 pages in chapter about Multimedia. Book was written by some 15 authors in all.

Book is rather huge – 800 pages, very large format, and high-grade paper, so it's heavy as a brick. Book included a CD, and it was a first book published in Croatia with CD as regular "supplement".

Second edition of PC Bible is actually a whole new book, written anew, from the scratch. Hardware part is a lot smaller, software was much more accentuated here. In this book

I was one of the most active contributors – chapters about Windows 95 itself, about Internet, and Multimedia, 130 pages in all. Book has 800 pages, format even larger than first "PC Bible", plus CD.
